While watching TV or DVDs the picture flickers as if it's trying to change video modes. The screen will go black for a second and then come back displaying the video mode - 480p. It seems to happen pretty randomly, sometimes it'll go for 5-10+ minutes and be fine, and other times it'll happen every minute or two.

Hello TGlinskas,
Welcome to Community@Insignia™!
I would first recommend that you verify that all of your cables are seated fully. If they are firmly connected and the problem persists, try new cables. I'm making the presumption that when you say "watching TV," you're watching cable or satellite programming? Also, when you say that the picture comes back in 480p video mode, does that mean your settings have changed?
If you're getting picture flickering or dropouts while watching broadcast programs, the problem may lie with the signal your TV is receiving. I have frequent signal issues with broadcast programming where I live that result in image quality problems.

John,
I installed a HDMI cable from my Panasonic Home Theatre and adjusted settings on that component. That seems to have resolved the flicker problem on DVD playback. I'll continue to monitor the situation and if the problem perists, I'll post here.
Thank you.

I've been having a couple of problems, first - for about a month now at random times, while watching TV, the screen will flash rapidly changing it's apparent brightness level for ~ 10-15 minutes on each occasion. Tried resetting, disconnected power and the other things recommended, but it didn't help. It stops flashing when it's ready. The set also has backlight issues. The screen goes dim on the left side and both top and bottom corners where backlight bleeds through appear to be off. The right side of the screen appears to be working normal and the backlight bleed through is visible. When the screen is in this mode it does not appear to flash. If it does I not able to tell.
