Re: Insignia NS-24E730A12 Sound Issue

I have a NS-24E73OA12, purchased 5/11. I have had it in for repairs four times. Reason, same as yours garbled or distorted sound on the digital channels. I have a Samsung, Curtis and a Sanyo all using the same cable company, not a problem. I have had to recorded what it is doing and send it along with the TV. When you take it in to Best Buy and they check it they always say "the sound is fine". That's why I started making DVD's of it ! Now I have a TV that still does not work, just picked it up again yesterday. What shame. All my time and all the trips to Best Buy, and the gas used to haul around a dysfunctional TV. I hope no one buys one of these so that don't have to go through the time and money wasting trips back and forth to Best Buy. And the three to six week wait for it to come back, still not working right. So I will record it again, and take the DVD in with me for one last attempt at getting it fix, if it comes back again not fixed to the curb it goes free to a good home..................

Re: Insignia NS-24E730A12 Sound Issue

Hello tobordude,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

More information would be helpful, so please read this post and reply here with answers to the questions. Answers to these basic troubleshooting questions will help us understand what's happening with your TV.

Also, you mention that other TVs are not experiencing the problem. Is there a difference in how they are connected to the service (e.g., do all TVs use a box, some, none)? Do you encounter the problem in particular viewing modes, or does it persist no matter what? The more information you can provide about your experience, the better we can assist you.

John

Re: Insignia NS-24E730A12 Sound Issue

Model # NS-24E73OA12

Cable RG/6 (all)

No other components connected

Frequent, on digital channels

No recent changes

As I stated in my first post, the analog channels the sound is fine, its only when viewing the digital channels does the sound break up and distorts. I have changed out the cales twice now, moved the TV to the other locations, etc. Nothing I do helps. They have replaced the main board twice and its still there.Right now its still in the box becaause I have had it with that TV.

Hello again tobordude,

Thank you for the additional information. Do I understand correctly from your last sentence that your TV has undergone repairs and you have not yet reconnected it in your home? If this is the case, I recommend installing the TV to see if the repair was successful or the problem persists. Let us know your results!

Also, it was not clear from your reply whether you are using a cable box. That information would also be helpful.

Re: Insignia NS-24E730A12 Sound Issue

Yes its still in the box because the last repair was unsuccessful. I took it back to Best Buy and they said nothing was wrong with it, so I left it in the box when returned home. I did hook it up to test it only to find that the problem was still there. Like I said I have had it with this TV, all the trips to Best Buy and they keep telling me , nothing is wrong with it, what a joke......

Re: Insignia NS-24E730A12 Sound Issue

Hello tobordude,

Thank you for the clarification and I apologize for my confusion. To be honest, I would be very frustrated too given what you describe.

If Geek Squad have informed you that the TV is working properly, it might help to examine other possibilities, so I have more questions for you:

  • Are you using a cable box for your service?
  • Who is your cable provider?
  • In what city/state do you live?
  • Are there particular channels on which the problem occurs or is it intermittent across all channels?
  • When did the problem first occur? Had there been any recent changes to your service at that time?
  • What audio settings have you tried with the TV? Is there any change at all in the various settings?
  • Previously you mentioned that you have created a recording of the problem. Do you have the means to make this available online for our review?

I know that having to consider these questions is almost as frustrating as the TV not functioning to your expectations. I really want to get you useful assistance though and answers to these questions will help us with our research. Also, if there are more details you can think of beyond these, please reply with them as well.

Sincerely,
John

Re: Insignia NS-24E730A12 Sound Issue

1. No box just cable as stated before

2. WOW (wideopenwest)

3. Elgin, Il

4.as stated before analog channels are fine its the digital ones that the sound breaks up on

5. Aug., the cable company started switching channels over to digital

6. yes I have the means, give me an addy to sent it to

the main board has been replaced twice and the tv power board once, so they say. If you want me to record it, I will do it out and hook it back up, but I need a place to send.

just so you know, between best buy not knowing how to check a tv and the place the have sent it to not knowing how to fix a tv will not be buying any more stuff from best buy and truly never letting the geek squad touch anything of mine!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Insignia NS-24E730A12 Sound Issue

Hello  tobordude,

I live in Naperville, IL and also have WOW and a NS-24E730A12 with the same sound issue.

While my analog channels are clear, almost all my digital 480i channels have the sound issue.

The only 720p or 1080i HD channel with the issue is FOXHD. All other 720p or 1080i have clear sound issue.

I sent the RAW sound stream from the NS-24E730A12 into a home theater system and the sound issue is still there.

Have you contacted Wide Open West and asked them about the problem or if there is some diagnostic they could run on your cable?

Regards

Cosine

Re: Insignia NS-24E730A12 Sound Issue

Hello all,

Couple of quick questions:

  • Have you tried performing a channel scan? This could resolve your issue.
  • Have you contacted your cable company to ensure that these channels are scrambled in such a manner that they require a cable box?

Zac
