Re: Remote Control Codes

Hello ZS,

Since the troubleshooting steps that Gonza and I have provided should have resolved the problem and didn't, you'll problably need to replace the remote control.  You can purchase a new one here.

Living Solution Jumbo Remote

We just purchased a large Insignia TV for my 82 year old mother and the sight center told us to buy a Living Solutions Jumbo remote. We cannot find a code for this remote. The autoscan did not find one either. Is there anything we can try or does Insignia have a jumbo remote? Thank you

Re: Living Solution Jumbo Remote

Hello brightop,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

Try the suggested codes contained in your remote user manual for the following brands: Orion, Emerson, Memorex, Sansui, Sylvania, Zenith, but I cannot promise they will work.  If they do not work, refer to the manufacturer of the remote to look for additional codes.

Step 1

Turn on the component you wish to sync to your universal remote--your television, DVD player, VCR or stereo.

Step 2

Point the remote at the device you are programming and press the corresponding device button on the remote. These buttons are labeled "TV," "VCR", "DVD," etc. Hold the device button for three to five seconds.

Step 3

Push the power button on the remote. This should turn on the device that you are syncing.

Step 4

Push the "Channel Up" or "Channel Down" button on your remote gradually until the device that you are programming shuts off.

Step 5

Press "OK" or "Enter" on the remote once the synced device turns off.

Step 6

Press the device button for the component you just programmed, and hit the power button while pointing the remote at the component. If programmed correctly, the device should turn on, and you should be able to control it with your Living Solutions Universal Remote.

Re: Remote Control Codes

I would like to try and use the Insignia TV remote for my Verizon Set Top Box and my digital cable.  The codes and manufacturers listed in the manual do not match my set top for my digital cable.  Can you help me program my Insignia remote to control my set top box?   i have  Model: NS-37L550A11, the 37 inch flat panel model.  Thanks.

Re: Remote Control Codes

Hello  mikejake,

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

You should see who's the box manufacturer and then look for the codes on the manual. As far as I know most boxes are Motorola so you should try codes:

00276, 00476, 00810, 00869, 01106, 01187, 01376 or 01982

If you need further assistance please provide me with the box manufacturer and model number.

If it was useful, and you liked it, Kudo it!

Thank you,
Gonza

Dishtv and remote code

Though this might help others. The remote code for DishTV remote and television model NS-22E450A11 and/or the 22" LED-LCD flatscreen is 538. I found it by using the scan feature on my remote. Most remotes have this capability so if your having problems consult your user manual and it will tell you how to scan. Though this might help others.

The number for DishTV's UHF/IR remote for the 22' LED-LCD is 538

Re: Remote Control Codes

> I understand that the insignia tv is a best buy product and this is why no other remote will work with it..

Not true. Being new and uncommon makes it a bit harder but they aren't trying to make other remotes not work.  For example my inexpensive ($20 +/-) URC-8820N has Insignia listed in the code chart instead of using a similar brand (i.e. from the same Chineese vat) and every button works.  The remote that shipped with my set was made by the same OEM and when I had it read back the code on the TV setting it was very similar.  (Insignia's is newer and uses a five digit device code, mine just used the last four digits).

Re: Remote Control Codes

> The universal remote control provided with this TV can't be programmed to control any other TV.

Au Contrair.  There isn't much of a reason to unlock it but it can be done.  One reason is if you need to keymove something on top of one of the TV buttons.  At least that is why I once did it to a One4All based remote that was locked.

Try TV then Set til it blinks twice then 982 and see if it blinks four times.  If it does you can do whatever floats yer boat.  I'd make darned sure I had used code 990 to extract AND WRITE DOWN IN A SAFE PLACE the current code before even thinking about it.  Consider yerself warned.

Now the odds of any sort of accident unlocking a remote are pretty much nill, this post is just to let folks know the lock is mostly there to prevent accidents and support/warranty calls.

Re: Remote Control Codes

Hello Joe (jafuente),

Welcome to Community@Insignia™!

To clarify, are you wanting to program your TV's remote control for DirecTV or the DirecTV universal remote control to operate your TV?  Also, have you tried using the scan feature of either remote to find a code?  I have found success by that method for my universal remotes.
