It has been a few months trying to figure out the codes for universal remote for my Insignia TV. The model is HDPLTV42.
I had bought it a few years back for more than $2400 and it feels very shamefull to to have to throw it away because of a bad remote. Our remote suddenly died about 6 months ago. Since than I have called support lines, bought 4 universal remotes and tried fixing the TV remote but nothing has lead to any solution. The Canadian Insignia gave up a long time ago and the American counterpart said there is no solution for this model. The replacement remotes are not available and the universal ones do not work. I was actually surprised at there comment and am very displeased with the product/company.
I am desperate for a new remote because the design of this TV is so poor that even the OSD available through the menu buttons on TV do not allow to change the source.
Even if someone can tell me as to How To change the source to Video1 I will buy a AV switch box and use it. But right now it is on TV and I have not been able to find out how to change it to Video1. Very poor engineeringo on the part of Insignia.

My older friend has an insignia television with an insignia remote control (MKJ39170822). We need instructions on how to program the Insignia remote so it will also operate the DVD and VCR.

Hello BJC,
Welcome to Community@Insignia™!
Please refer to the first post in this thread and provide us with more details. You may also try the suggested ones in your remote user manual for: Orion, Emerson, Memorex, Sansui, Sylvania, Zenith

I tried the suggested codes. Unfortunately they did not work. But thanks for the suggestions. I suspect I am out of luck on compatible codes. Not a huge issue, but a negative when it comes to future Insignia purchases. My Comcast cable remote works fine with the TV. But my blue-ray player remote refuses to connect. A minor annoyance. Thankfully I don't have to use it everyday. Maybe a future Samsung firmware update will address the issue. I am not holding my breath on that one, though.

Hello Sunny,
Welcome to Community@Insignia™!
In this case, for this particular model, we do not have a preferred remote control brand. However I'm surprised about the response you got since I'm sure most of the most popular remote control brands should work. Keep in mind that if no remote control code is listed under Insignia on the remote's manual, you should be able either to run a Code Search to find the correct one or you will be able to use one of the codes listed for the following brands: Orion, Emerson, Memorex, Sansui, Sylvania, Zenith.
Just a piece of information you may find useful, the part number for the original remote is: HYDFSR-A205EG, 1027848 or 101481.
If it was useful, and you liked it, Kudo it!
Thank you,
Guille

Thanks for the remote part number.
I still have all the universal remotes i had purchased and I have tried them numerous times, even with other brand names codes like you suggested but absolutely no luck. I was surprised at the response too. Like I said at this point i have purchased a AV switch box and if i can get my TV to switch to Video 1 input then i might be able to use this TV for a little longer before changing it with something better. I don't think Insignia has this particular remote in stock. When I was talking with Canadian side they came upto a point where they were willing to ship this remote to me. The lady who was taking down the address just told me that it was a mistake because since I live in Canada they cannot ship it. So i got them an American address. They were ready to ship it there but after a couple of weeks they completely made a u turn and said Sorry it was a mistake on their part because this remote is not available at all. They offered to ship a universal remote instead and to my surprise after waiting another week the same response came back. We are very sorry but we are out of this particular remote which will work with your TV model.
I just do not feel like putting a $2400 TV to garbage because i am stuck on TV/RF input and I cannot operate anything on it because I don't have the remote.
Please someone tell me I can switch it to Video 1 which will give me a chance to use a selector switch. Pretty sad eh!
But i appreciate your feed back.

Hello again Insignia Support,
It's been 3 weeks since I posted a second reply on here about my remote and how the codes you provided did not work. So I was wondering if you were going to help me out by letting me know if I can get another remote for my tv shipped to me or whether you just read and ignored my comment. I would really appreciate some help here since I need the universal remote to work on the tv since my old tv one barely functions. Any more help would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Tim

Hello BJC,
If you are willing to set your remote to control another device, you will have a compatible list at page 24 of the users manual. Also, at that page, you will find a detailed guide on how to program it.
Here is a link to a pdf copy of the manual:

I can't find the dish network remote code for my Insignia NS-L46X-10A. I went to the support page for my TV and it gave me the code 720, but it still will not control the TV at all! My dish network remote model is a 5.4 IR.
