Re: TV Keeps Turning On and Off

Re: TV Keeps Turning On and Off

Hello Dogfish5,

Welcome to Community@ Insignia™!

This sounds like a frequency issue, which is usually caused by Cable Providers making adjustments to the frequencies the channels are transmitted on. I would suggest disconnecting the coax, and while it is unhooked run the channel scan to clear the memory. Then reconnect the coax, run the channel scan to lock in the updated channel information, and see if that resolves the issue.

Disconnected coax. Ran channel scan. TV does not stay on long enough to complete.

Re: TV Keeps Turning On and Off

Hello Dogfish5,

Thank you for responding!

If you have disconnected all devices, except the TV power cord, and the TV is still cycling then that does imply there is an issue with the TV itself, possibly the power supply or the main board. If that is the case the TV would require repair to get back into regular working order. If with no other devices the TV does remain on, in that case try one device connected at a time to narrow down which equipment the TV is having a conflict with.

Re: TV Keeps Turning On and Off

TV cycles every 8 minutes more or less with nothing but power cord plugged in. Does repair cost more than new TV? How about a trade in?

Re: TV Keeps Turning On and Off

Is there a fan on the main board? Finally got it to run auto channel search with out going off. Working ok with a small outside fan blowing through low vent holes on back and up and out.

If there is a fan is it owner replaceable?

Re: TV Keeps Turning On and Off

Hello Dogfish5,

Thank you for responding!

That model does not have any User Servicable parts, and do not have a fan built in. The unit may have dust inside causing it to overheat, which your external fan would help to reduce. If you have not already, disconnect the tv from power, and try using canned air to blow out the heat vents in the case. It may be that the power supply or other component is going out, in which case using the fan may help get more use out of it.

Unfortunately due to the jumps in technology and the age of this set, it is usually more cost effective to replace than repair, but you may see if you can get a free repair estimate from a Authorized Service Tech, and compare that to current sale prices for a new set.

Re: TV Keeps Turning On and Off

I have the NS-39L700A12 model TV. It will not stay on. I've done all the requests from various comments posted with no luck. Any advice or a phone number I can call?

Re: TV Keeps Turning On and Off

Hello Malcomb82,

Welcome to Community@ Insignia™!

If you have attempted the troubleshooting and the issue persists, then it is most likely going to be a hardware problem. From the age of the unit I'm going to assume it is going to be outside of the manufacturer warranty. If you purchased a Geek Squad Protection, you would want to contact Geek Squad to have it reviewed under their policies.

If no Geek Squad Protection was purchased, you can check with your Geek Squad at the local Best Buy for repair options, but those would be done on a charge basis.

Re: TV Keeps Turning On and Off

Same issue here, it doesn't look like any of the channels I've been trying are working at all even after removing the Coax cable and switching through them each time.

Model: NS-29LD120A13 (Rev B)

City: State College, PA

Cable Provider: Comcast

Anything that can be done?
