The ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) has defined the standard for HDTV. The NS-LCD32-09 features an HDTV tuner that is compliant with this definition. Full details about the specs of the TV can be found here. I hope this helps.

Hello John!
Before I get to my questions, here is a little background information:
We own a second home in Bonita Springs, FL. It's located in a gated community, which includes about 80 homes, a main clubhouse/office and a large swimming pool. It was built about 25 years ago. Both the cable TV and the land line telephone services are provided by EMBARQ. They come directly into the complex's main office, which has a dedicated telephone/cable TV equipment room. The equipment includes analog amplifiers, splitters, and some switching equipment for two types of Cable TV services offered to the home owners.
From this equipment room, there are dedicated underground coax cables that run to each home via an undeground duct bank. Homeowners can choose between a basic 8 channel system or one that includes about 70 channels. None of these channels are HD. The land line telephone cables, by the way, are completely seperate from the coax.
A year and a half ago (November of 2007), we purchased an Insignia NS-LCD32 LCD TV at the new Best Buy in Estero, FL, and it has worked flawlessly! With the recent changeover to DTV on June 13th, I have some questions as we will be going down to the house this month for a few weeks:
1. If the main analog style Cable TV distribution equipment hasn't been upgraded, will we be able to receive the new DTV signals?
2. If the main Cable TV distirbution equipment has been either modified or upgraded to receive and distribute the new signals, will our set be able to receive the new DTV signals?
3. If the answer to either of the above two questions is NO, what do we need to do to make it so?
