Just got this TV over the weekend. (Model NS-L42X-10A) And the one thing I can't stand is the display box that opens every time you adjust the volume. Not only does it seem to stay open for a long time but it opens right in the middle of the screen. I know I can push the exit button to make it disappear. The remote we are using doesn't have that feature. So we are stuck with the display box or have to keep the original remote handy to push exit.
Is there a way to disable this feature? Shorten the display time? Or move the box to the bottom of the screen?
Suggestions/Advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!

My only thought is an expensive one: a programmable remote.

You would need a remote that allowed you to send the exit command as part of the volume up/down sequence.

I second this request.
We should be able to move the volume bar to the very bottom and shrink it down. I'd even settle with turning it off completely if I had to. Why on earth they elected to stick it smack dab in the middle of the screen is beyond me.

I still think this is a poor design. I'd expect the transparency to be capable of almost 100% so that it's virtually "gone," yet still visible enough to revert the setting. Why is there even a volume display box in the first place? I don't need to see what level it's at, I'm just going to increase the volume until my ears are satisfied. It strikes me as very odd since this TV has a lot of the buzz word features people look for, yet the user is constantly disrupted by this pointless dialogue box. Clearly some thought went into this product, but I guess only in terms of sales, and not usability.
The only workarounds I can think of that actually solve this issue are:
a) connect to an external amp and speaker setup and use the volume control of that
b) return this for a different TV
