"Bit rate" monitor on NS-P42Q-10A

Hi, I just hooked up a DVD player to my NS-P42Q-10A Plasma tv via an HDMI cable and I have a Bit Rate monitor near the top of the screen, superimposed on top of the video from the DVD.  How do I get rid of this?
