tv making noise and go when then will not turn off

my 42 inch TV has been going crazy.  It will turn on and be fine for about 2 hours then all of a sudden it will make a very loud noise and the screen will go white with multiple lines in it and will not turn off.  I have to unplug it.  I will plug it back in and it will be fine for about a 1/2 hour then do the same thing over again.  What can be wrong?

We'll be happy to look into this concern if you'll please reply with your product model number!  It will also be helpful to know the following:

  • In what viewing mode does this occur (e.g. broadcast TV, cable/satellite, DVD/Blu-ray, gaming, etc.)?
  • Please describe the "very loud noise" in more detail?
  • Have you tried restoring the unit to factory defaults?

Any additional details you can provide will help us assist you.
